Pacquiao

Pacquiao-Marquez 2 ended in a draw where Manny Pacquiao emerged as a winner on judges’ scorecards. Manny Pacquiao is the new WBC Superfeatherweight champion. This is Manny Pacquiao’s third division world championship title. His win over Juan Manuel Marquez affirmed his title “Mexican Destroyer” after beating Juan Manuel Marquez and other Mexican boxing greats.
The scores were 115-112, 112-115, 114-113 (a split decision) in favor of Manny Pacquiao making him the new WBC Superfeatherweight Champion of the world. He was favored by the judges based primarily on aggressiveness and gut. Manny Pacquaio’s best moment was in Round 3 when he knocked down Juan Manuel Marquez leaving the latter dizzy after the round even forgetting where his right corner was.
However, rounds 5-8 saw Juan Manuel Marquez dominating the fight despite suffering from an injury over his right eye in one of those rounds. Manny Pacquiao showed some signs of hesitation to become aggressive all throughout the fight because of Juan Manuel Marquez’s ability to parry his shots and counter-punch with equally heavy hands. he suffered a deep cut over his right eye as well, making the fight even. Rounds 9-11 were Manny Pacquiao’s round for showing a confidence build-up in those rounds, landing more shots than Marquez. The Mexican fighter was not an easy fighter to beat though. He kept charging and showing some really terrific boxing skills despite losing the whole match. After the fight, he said he thought he won the battle with Pacquiao. He was clearly disappointed because Manny Pacquiao did not show any interest (during the interview with Pacquiao on the ring) in giving him a rematch.
Overall, the win of Manny Pacquiao against Juan Manuel Marquez is not as dominating as his previous fights like those with Antonio Barrera and Erik Morales. I’ve seen a better Manny Pacquiao in the past and his team’s plan to move up to the 135-lb weight division is a wise one. Juan Manuel Marquez might as well run after him in that division by moving up also. Their present weight class is 130 pounds.
